I my self as a Sabahan, never been there but my husband as a tour bus driver always sending tourists that come visited Sabah. I think this is a really amazing and adventures place that you should visit. If you have the opportunity of visiting Sabah, one of the interesting places, it would be Kelly Bay's.
Kelly Bays located at Kg. Laya-Laya, Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. It take 40 minutes leisure drive from Kota Kinabalu City to the Jetty. Then all visitor will take a 5 minute ferry ride from jetty to the beach. On the way our tourist guide in town will a short introduced about the Mangrove forest and the river.
Kelly Bays is the unique place that facing both river and sea. I think there is the only transport that can be use to reach there "Floating Pondok".
This is the Boat time schedule, hope this can help you so that can get the ferry on time.

Beside of water, there also have Batik house. Show your artistic batik painting, who care if you don't have the talent. Not to worry if you get hungry after all the tiring activities, they serve a local delicate, bbq or buffet.
